Nicola is an Australian producer, writer, director and editor based in Sydney, Australia.
Her feature documentary Somewhere After (2026) has just begun its festival circuit journey by winnning jury’s Wild Card Award at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival for its "remarkable sensitivity" and "formal originality". Somewhere After follows seven Australians over a three year period as their lives are irrevocably changed by isolation in 2020 and asks whether difficult times can be used to become who we hope to be.
Her previous work includes a short documentary she directed and co-animated The Art of Doodling (2017), which won the Audience Award at Shortie Film Festival New York and was officially selected for Melbourne Documentary Film Festival. The Granny Flat (2019), a short animation she produced, won Best Comedy at the Australian Women’s Film Festival and screened at Flickerfest, Revelation Perth International Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and Cannes Antipodes.
Nicola holds a Bachelor of Arts: Screen Production from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) where she has appeared as a guest lecturer. She has since worked across pre-production, production, and post-production roles on projects including short films, feature films, concert videos and content for academic and educational research projects, led by companies including The University of Sydney, CJZ, Bonafide Pictures, Bohemia Media, Bus Stop Films and Collider.
Recently, Nicola completed a certificate in graphic design at Shillington College and has freelanced as a creator of branded content, recording and cutting together interviews and behind the scenes to produce marketing videos for arts and educational organisations including Blinking Light Theatre, The Marketing Academy, The Song Company and Opera Australia.
